Beginning the Journey

The moment Dante parted ways with Griffin, he was overwhelmed with fear. The tall Gorgi trembled so hard that the rattling of his dice innards seemed to distract Girgu as the elder was directing hikers to the boats.

He wanted to be strong for his partner. Griffin had donned his fantasy adventuring gear to wear into the Forbidden Forest without shame, so Dante would do the same.

A tan Gorgi with a noisy accordion middle sniggered something about tripping over the bedsheet cape and tumbling down the mountain, but most of the others riding in the boats alongside him gave him encouraging smiles and small compliments.

Dante took a breath, envisioning himself as his Dungeons and Dragons pc, Dorian the Bold. A ruggedly classy sailor who returned from a long trip to find his home destroyed by dark forces. Hoping to find his lost family, Dorian became a fighter, trained by the best swords-gorgi in the realm.

He gazed at his reflection in the water as the team paddled along. He was on a mission. Callan the Ruthless (Griffin’s character) was battling a force of shadowy dragons with the rest of the party, keeping it from decimating the peaceful Kingdom of Brookben. Dorian was chosen to take the Lightstone to the top of Helios Mountain and replenish its power. Restoring the stone to the dark forest’s temple would seal the dragons back within.

His trembling ceased as these fantasies swirled in his mind. For a few minutes, he forgot that he would be taking the annual Mt. Tinder hike alone this year.
